Part 1 Here
I got the correct mount kit for a Moose Rapid Mount 3 today and spent 3 hours in the barn putting things together. Yes, I’m a tad slow.
Below are 2 pictures of that mount after I put it on. None of the Grizzly plastic needs to be removed to mount it to the frame tubing. I was impressed with that. Overall, this was probably the simplest component to install. Four bolts and your done. Two of the nuts are in some what of a tricky position, but overall it’s not bad. Use a jack to help hold it up while you bolt the front if your mounting one of these.
Next, I unpacked the rapid mount. Below is everything in the box and pictures after I bolted a few of the components on.
Bolted on the wear bar and rubber flap on the blade next
When I got the plow mounted and attached the rapid mount to the atv, the puller bar was too long and in my opinion , still is. I’ll probably come up with my own lift attachment as I want the winch to be able to lift the plow higher. Below are the pics with how the directions say to do it and then pictures after I adjusted it the to the shortest length possible.
After adjustment
below is the bracket I made that I talked about in part one related to the winch contactor. And A final pic with it all back together, ready to push some snow. I can’t wait till we get at least 10″ =D
Currently having an issues with gallery mysql db. Images in post may not show up.
So for some time, I’ve been trying to decide how I wanted to plow our 200 yard driveway. Its pretty much a straight shot to the road. I decided to go with a plow on a ATV. The ATV is an 09 Grizzly 700. When looking for a state plow (one that will really throw snow to the side), I was really not sure if I should go with a warn or a moose plow. Both seem good and have good things said about them online and they are priced competitively. I’ve done some reading online and it seemed that after I go it, it would be useful for others if I shared my experience with a moose 60″ county plow and its installation. The lawn mower is a beast for its size, but it just isn’t fast enough.
I got my plow recently, but it came with the wrong mounting kit. Now I’m waiting for that. Below are pictures of what I’ve received

I also purchased a xt25 winch and a moose mounting plate. The winch is all I’ve completed so far as I’m waiting for the correct plow mount for the moose rapid mount system. When installing the mouting plate, its critical to put the winch on the mounting plate before putting the mouting plate on the frame. I tried to just install the mounting plate and then the winch, however the winch was to big to fit into the location with the plate already installed. I also had a little bit of an issue getting the bolt holes to line of with the frame. It tooks some time and frustration, but finally got them in. One thing I’ve noticed about the moose mount and roller fair-lead is the bottom roller is larger. I believe this is for less wear on the winch rope. I also noticed the winch mount seems to be at quite an extreme angle (45?) downward. It almost* seems as if the rope might rub on the mount also as the fair-lead doesn’t seem high enough on the mount.

The only other issue I ran into was deciding where to mount the contactor for the winch. I decided to try and mount it above/behind the battery using a homemade L shaped mounting bracket. I have not made the bracket yet, but I’m going to go for this effect.

Some people mount this on the back of their winch mount, but I’m really going to try and keep this unit high and dry. Here are pictures as it sits right now without the L bracket. I also took a picture of how I routed the cables.
I’ll take more pictures and make more notes when I get the right mounting kit for the snow plow.
