Launchy to the Rescue

So being the good sys admin I always em (ha) – I’ve been running as a normal user and using run as when needed.  Of course its annoying to have to go to the command line so I had created some vbs scripts to kick off certian things I use that had to run under my management account.

Better, but still not good enough.  Last night when reading a diff post about best Apps of the year – they were talking about Launchy , a cool little app I tried at home, but couldn’t find much use for – but then it hit me.  What if I could use Launcy to kick off all my runas stuff to quickly run Management Accounts as privledged user .

Sure enough Launchy includes a plugin called runner where you can add anything pretty much.  Launchy is now one of my fav apps at work ;-)

Amazon MP3 Store

So recently, I really wanted to buy a CD and I tossed around in my head as to wether I would actually buy the physical CD or pay to download it somewhere online.  Being that I like to shop from home and love DRM free music , I opted very Amazon’s MP3 store.  I was pretty impressed.  Decent price, small app to download.

Piece of cake and quality mp3′s.  They’ve got me hooked.

Very Cool RDP/TS Client

So, every since I started being a “Sys Admin” about four years I’ve always used the Remote Desktops Snapin that Microsoft provides with the Administration pack.  Its always kind of annoyed me with its lack of sorting options.  A few times , I’ve ended up with lists of servers in the console to the point where I would forget where in the list certian servers would be.  Recently, where I took a new position, I noticed one of my co-workers using what looked to be a cool TS Cleint .  It allows sorting, foldering, searching , all kinds of cool features.

Its Called Royal TS and you get it here – http://www.code4ward.net/main/

Feel free to donate to the guys who wrote it.  Nice little app.  Hats off to Kurt for showing it to me
