OutdoorLife Letter to Editor

Posted on February 19th, 2008 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Below is a Letter to the Editor of Outdoor life I wrote today.  I wonder if I will recieve a respone :)

Dear OutdoorLife ,

I beg and plead of you to improve your subscription services and customer service.  I’ve just been yanked around by OL Customer service and my bank for about an hour to try and get my subscription that rightfully was paid for in 10-07.  I have not been getting either OL  or FS since I subscribed in the combo subscription.  I love your magazine, don’t get me wrong, but something has to be done.

The Jist of it all
-Call OL customer service , explain I’ve paid and check was posted 10-07, I never received subscription, I’m told I need to get the Bank name that cashed the Check
-Call Bank, no luck getting name of bank that cashed check, I’m told I should dispute the check and have it refunded to my account, I give OL one more chance
-Call OL service, explain my situation, I’m told that they cannot send my subscription without it showing in the system that they received the subscription from "subscriber services"
I’m asked to call subscriber services, I explain I don’t have their # and I don’t understand why I (the customer) should have to contact the "Subscriber Service" and why isn’t OL handling it.  Rep tries to look up number and after a few minutes gives up because the list of "thousands" of numbers is not in alphabetical order, Rep renews my subscription

Yes, I agree, it a slightly amusing yet frustrating little story.  In the end I "should" start receiving my subscription, however I will not be receiving my promised free gift because  the rep told me I was "pushing my luck" ;-) , and to be honest, I’d had about enough and was just happy to move on.  However, I did feel the need to spend 10 minutes to write this.

Maybe I deserve a free hat or something to advertise for you after all this fun?

Anyhow, tell the writers to keep up the good work.  Maybe you can get management to work on the Service though :-)

Thanks for your time

Valentines Day

Here’s a pic of the hawt flowers I got Niki ;-)

Trevor brought me these beautiful flowers home during his lunch break. After he got out of work, we went to see a K-wings pink ice game. The atmosphere is pretty cute with the pink ice and hearts at the spots on the ice where the players square off. It was a great night; and to top it off, the K-wings won!

Went to Chicago Motorcycle show – ran into a few cool new things.  Including a new ECC to compete with PowerCommander, however, I still need to look into it.  Here is a nice CBR that was there.  You can check out all the pics I took at the show here – Gallery Link

D630 System Beep

Posted on February 5th, 2008 in Tech | 2 Comments »

I recently got a new latitude d630 and a pet peave it brought with it was an very loud and annoying system beep if I typed my password wrong.  If you run into this on a different laptop, you’ll probably also have luck trying to disable a Hidden Device in Device Manager.

Its called "Beep" and its under "Non-PLug and Play devices" , it hidden so make sure to select view hidden devices.

Very Clever MS :p
